Error
Nuker is one of the other popular brand available in the market when it
comes
to registry cleaning softwares. This software is a product of a company
called
“TrekBlue” which has released several other related
products in the same
segment such as "Spam Nuker", "Spyware Nuker" and "Popup
Nuker".
Error
Nuker is designed for Windows® 98/ME, 2000, XP &
Vista™.
One of
the most basic things that you must always keep in mind while doing
anything
related to your registry is to know your limits. Any inadvertent
deletion of a
single registry entry can render your computer unusable. Moreover, many
a time such
changes are permanent and you might have to go out and buy a hardware
replacement to get your computer up and running.
Error
Nuker lacks some functionality in this department. Once you run a scan
using
this software, it will show you the list of detected errors along with
their
location on your hard drive. Problem is it will not grant a direct
access to
the detected error and you have to manually get to that error (In case
you want
to). Moreover, Error nuker will not give you any indication as to how
severe a
detected error is. Without any information on severity of an error, it
will
become very difficult for a regular user to decide as to which errors
needs to
be fixed and which needs to be permanently deleted.
This
software also lacks some additional features which are available in
Registry
Fix and Registry Easy. For example there is no functionality in this
program to
control the windows startup programs. Without such control you have to
manually
detect and close the programs which start automatically after system
boot up.
Again this might prove to be a limitation for a regular user. Moreover,
this
program also lacks the ability to edit the Windows add/remove list.
There is
a very efficient feature available in registry Fix known as registry
defrag.
This feature helps immensely in maintaining your registry in a
sequential
manner. Moreover, using registry defrag you can also increase your
system speed
even without a registry scan (Although it is recommended). This feature
of “registry
defrag” is also missing in Error Nuker.
Other
than these limitations this program is fairly simple to use. The
installation
is pretty basic and doesn’t take a lot of time.
Once a
scan is completed by Error Nuker, then the errors related to your
registry are
categorized. An option to backup your registry before scanning is
available and
we recommend strongly using it every time you run a scan on your
registry. This
will ensure that you have a backup to fall back on in case you
unintentionally
delete some critical system file. The detected errors, after scan, can
be repaired
at once by repairing the entire section or you can also choose to
repair each
error individually.
I must
add here, that Error Nuker does a wonderful job as far as the scanning
goes and
the additional utility of grouping the errors in different categories.
In case
you are technically inclined then you can also go for a manual scan in
place of
an automatic one. This is particularly useful in case you want to look
out for
invalid start up entries or missing DLL files.
The user
interface of error Nuker is pretty easy to understand with all the
basic
functionalities available in one click. If you go for the advanced
option while
performing a scan, then this software can detect almost all types of
invalid
entries. Totally there are thirteen different types of invalid entries
which
can be detected using Error Nuker.
Error
Nuker does offers Email support from its website and additionally, a
list of
general FAQ’s is also available there. However, there is no
help documentation
available in the program itself.
I can't
recommend this software since it lacks some basic features which are
available
in Registry Fix, for the same price. Moreover, this software might be
difficult
to use by a newbie user given the fact that the severity of the
detected error
is not displayed and hence you will have no idea as to how severe an
error is.
